Aside from the fact that most of these cities have winter, many have other issues as well. I’m glad Austin isn’t among them:

While we’re not the most affordable community in the U.S., we’re far from the least affordable as well. Here’s a quick comparison of Austin to other Texas cities, and to Texas and U.S. averages for the Housing Affordability index:
The Housing Affordability Index is the ratio of median family income in a community to the income required to qualify for a 20%-down fixed rate mortgage for a median-priced home in the same community. A higher HAI is better — i.e., more affordable — than a lower HAI. The list above is sorted from high to low for the most recent period reported.
