Earlier this week, I posted Sales Growth in 2025? U.S. vs Austin metro, with links to articles showing differences in the national residential market and contradictory signs in the Austin area.
One of those links indicated caution among home builders nationally (US Housing Market Isn’t Out of the Woods Yet). Today, I see another article from the National Association of REALTORS that again is less than optimistic:
Housing Market Rebound Hits a Cold Snap as Contract Signings Slow
That article highlights month-over-month and year-over-year declines in contract signings in December. The explanation points to reductions in listing inventory as a reason, but as we have seen here over the past year, no single factor is responsible for buyer uncertainty.
It may take me a couple of days to comment on the year-end data for the Austin area, but I will tell you what I find as soon as I can assemble and analyze the date.
More soon ….
