Note that this new article is focused on the city of Austin, but our suburbs and exurbs feel this shift as well. For those of you who are in the market now, as home buyers, sellers, or brokers/agents, you know how significant the changes have been.
As recently as December 2024 and January 2025, many prominent market watchers expected a healthier turn-around for the Austin-area environment. The very dramatic boom-time in 2022 combined with subsequent changes in mortgage interest rates and uncertainties about the larger economic and political world have led us to this difficult place.
